Helen Jackson

Aug. 18, 1913 - March 2, 2003

Helen Jackson, 89, of rural Spiceland, died Sunday, March 2 at Rush Memorial Hospital. She was born August 18, 1913 in Falmouth, Ky., a daughter of the late Charles and Gertrude (Browning) Colvin. Helen married Roy W. Jackson on February 16, 1935 and he preceded her in death May 25, 1985.

Mrs. Jackson had been employed by the Mays High School where she worked with her husband for nearly 30 years. She was a member of the Center Christian Church for over 60 years and had lived in the Mays community for 57 years before moving to Spiceland in 1999. She was a graduate of Mays High School.

Surviving is one son, Donald R. (wife Kay) Jackson of Spiceland; one brother, Clyde (wife Marlene) Colvin of Muncie; two grandchildren, Jeff (wife Risa) Jackson of Greenfield, and Janet Kay Jackson of Indianapolis; four great-grandchildren and two great-great-grandchildren.

She was preceded in death by two brothers, George and Glen Colvin, and one sister, Marybell Colvin Montgomery.

Services will be held at 10 a.m. Thursday, March 6 at the Moster & Cox Mortuary in Rushville with Bill Worrell officiating. Burial will be in the Center Cemetery in Rush County. Visitation will be today from 4-8 p.m. at the funeral home. Memorial contributions can be made to the Center Christian Church.
