Cleo Snodgrass Williams

Aug. 29, 1913 - Feb. 23, 2003

Cleo Snodgrass Williams, 89, died Sunday, February 23 at St. John's Hospital in Anderson. She was born in Tustin, Mich., August 29, 1913, a daughter of Kyle and Nellie Lytle Snodgrass.

Mrs. Snodgrass graduated from Yorktown High School in 1931. She later attended Ball State University and received an accounting degree. She married Ellis Paxton Williams in 1936.

She worked for Ball State University and retired in 1979. She was a member of the Reed Station Christian Church and later was a member of the Yorktown Church of the Nazarene, attending regularly until she became ill. She was also an ordained minister.

Survivors include three sons, Gaylon (wife Donna) Williams of Bullsgap, Tenn., Wendell (wife Jean) Williams, and Cecil (wife Judy) Williams, both of Shirley. She had 13 grandchildren, 27 great-grandchildren and several nieces and nephews.

She was preceded in death by her parents; husband, Ellis Paxton Williams; sisters, Lucille Ashbaugh Driver, Mary Ashbaugh Day and Marcella Snodgrass Ward; and two brothers, David and Johnny Ashbaugh.

Funeral services will be held at 3 p.m. on Thursday, February 27 at the Gant Funeral Home in Yorktown. Burial will follow in the Jones Cemetery north of Yorktown. Friends may call at the funeral home from 4-8 p.m. on Wednesday, February 26 and one hour prior to services on Thursday. Memorials may be made to the Yorktown Church of the Nazarene or a charity of the donor's choice.
