James W. McDaniel
July 2, 1935 - Feb. 17, 2003
James W. (Jim) McDaniel, 67, a lifelong resident of Charlottesville, died Monday, February 17 at St. Vincent Hospital in Indianapolis. He was born July 2, 1935 in Charlottesville, a son of the late Wayne and Edna (Foust) McDaniel.
Jim was a lifelong farmer. He was a school bus driver for Eastern Hancock, retiring after 32 years of service and had served on the Eastern Hancock School Board. He was president of the Hancock County Sheep Producers. For many years, Mr. McDaniel served as superintendent of the Sheep and Goat Barn at the Indiana State Fair. He was an avid high school Athletic Booster.
Survivors include his wife of 45 years, Ann (Athey) McDaniel of Charlottesville; two sons, Bob (wife Donna) McDaniel of Charlottesville, and Larry (wife Dixie) McDaniel of Cottonwood, Calif.; two daughters, Judi (husband Mike) Reed of Milton, and Lori Hayden of New Palestine; six grandchildren, Sam and Mitch McDaniel of Charlottesville, Matt Hayden of New Palestine, Jalana, Clay and Kyle Reed of Milton; and several nieces and nephews.
He was preceded in death by two sisters.
Funeral services will be held at 10 a.m. Friday, February 21 in the Condo & Son Funeral Home with Pastor Tracy Wright officiating. Burial will follow at Six Mile Cemetery in Charlottesville. Friends may call at the funeral home from 3-8 p.m. Thursday, February 20.
Memorial contributions may be made to the Hancock County Sheep Producers in care of the Condo & Son Funeral Home, 130 S. Main St., Wilkinson, IN 46186.
