Earl N. Wesley

Earl N. Wesley, 84, died Wednesday, February 12 at the Flat Rock River Lodge in Rushville after an extended illness. He was born in June 28, 1918 in Pulaski County, Ky., a son of the late Mitchell and Bonnie (Jasper) Wesley.
Mr. Wesley attended high school in Science Hill, Ky. and Arsenal Tech High School where he learned meat cutting. He came to this area from Somerset, Ky. and had made his home in Raleigh for the past 56 years. He worked as a grocer and meat cutter, having owned and operated Wesley's Market in Lewisville for 42 years. An avid guitar player, Earl played at the Raleigh Dance with the Raleigh Rangers and also played with the Carter Lanning Band and the Wayne Newman Band. He was a member of the Lewisville Masonic Lodge #72 F. & A.M., Lewisville Lions Club, the Raleigh Community Club and Raleigh Christian Church.
Survivors include his wife of 60 years, the former Marjorie McBride whom he married on May 3, 1942 in Lewisville; two daughters, Linda Chastain of Napa Valley, Calif., and Donna Williams of Mays; six grandchildren; 10 great-grandchildren; three great-great-grandchildren; six sisters, Bernice (husband David) Stoops and Bea Mofield, both of Lake Panasoffkee, Fla., Iva Haynes of Punta Gorda, Fla., Marie Saunders, Becky Conley and Viola Dishman, all of Lewisville; and several nieces and nephews.
Funeral services were held Monday, February 17 at the Marshall & Erlewein Funeral Home in Lewisville. Rev. Tony Augsburg and Rev. Mick Saunders officiated with Tom Saunders assisting. Burial was in the Raleigh Zion Cemetery. Visitation was Sunday, February 16 at the funeral home where a Masonic Service was conducted by the Lewisville Lodge #72 F. & A.M.
