Mildred Pearson

May 6, 1922 - Dec. 23, 2002

Mildred "Shorty" Pearson, 80, a resident of Charlottesville, died Monday, December 23 at Brandywine Manor Nursing Home in Greenfield. She was born May 6, 1922 in Alabama, a daughter of the late Jasper and Gertrude (Schultz) Nichols.

Mrs. Pearson had worked at the Oldsmobile Plant in Lansing, Mich. In 1954, she moved to Indiana and became the owner of the Charlottesville Restaurant, retiring in 1989. She was a member of the Knightstown Brotherhood and Sisterhood.

Survivors include five daughters, Ruth Brown of Greenfield, Carol Anna Amato of Grand Ledge, Mich., Mary Brady of Indianapolis, Della Black of Charlottesville, Vivian Pearson of Greenfield; three sons, Fred Gettle of Michigan, Larry Dilley of Dunreith, Robert Pearson of Greenfield; three step-daughters, Jean Goodwin of Greenfield, Patty Luttrell of Indianapolis and Loretta Foust of Rushville; one stepson, Donald Pearson of Indianapolis; one brother, Jason Nichols of Laingsburg, Mich.; two sisters, Rose Ann Nichols of Perry, Mich. and Josephine Chilano of Jackson, Mich.; and several grandchildren and great-grandchildren.

She was preceded in death by her husband, Henry E. Pearson; two stepdaughters, Dorothy Pearson and Gladys Saunders; one stepson, Frank Pearson; granddaughter, Danyel Dilley; and two sisters, Gladys Baker and Mary Dilley.

Funeral services were held Friday, December 27 in the Condo & Son Funeral Home in Wilkinson with burial in Glen Cove Cemetery, Knightstown. Visitation was held from 4-8 p.m. Thursday, Dec. 26 at the funeral home.
