Clayton Cook

Aug. 31, 1926 - Dec. 18, 2002

Clayton Cook, 76, a resident of Charlottesville, died Wednesday, December 18 at St. Vincent Hospital in Indianapolis. He was born August 31, 1926 in Hancock County, a son of the late Otto and Laura (Thomas) Cook.

Mr. Cook was a lifelong farmer and had worked for Marion County Farm Bureau in Cumberland, was a school bus driver for Mt. Comfort Schools, a private building contractor and had worked at Ripberger Construction Company and Hunt Construction Company. He was a member of the Hancock County Farm Bureau, Pioneer Engineer Tractor Club in Rushville and the Wilkinson Brotherhood & Sisterhood. He was an avid antique tractor buff and was a private airplane pilot.

Survivors include his wife of 50 years, Mary (Williams) Cook; three sons, David (wife Jill) Cook of Knightstown, Charles Cook Jr. and Mark Cook, both of Charlottesville; three grandsons, Jason Welborn, Joshua (wife Cassie) Welborn and Christopher Cook; one great-granddaughter, Aubrey Tannehill; and one sister, Judith McCleskey of Oakman, Ala.

Funeral services were held Saturday, December 21 in the Condo & Son Funeral Home in Wilkinson with Pastor William House officiating. Burial was in Glen Cove Cemetery. Visitation for family and friends was held at the funeral home Friday, December 20. Memorial contributions may be made to the American Heart Association.
