Weldon J. Stevens

July 2, 1924 – June 23, 2001

Weldon J. Stevens, 76, a resident of Lewisville and former resident of Wilkinson, died Saturday, June 23 at Henry County Memorial Hospital in New Castle, following a brief illness. He was born July 2, 1924 in Rush County, a son of the late Russell and Luva (Bowen) Stevens.

He retired from the Indiana State Highway Commission and was an office machine repairman. Stevens was an Army-Air Corp veteran of WW II and a member of the Center Christian Church near Mays.

He is survived by his wife of 55 years, Martha (Fordyce) Stevens; two sons, Robert (wife, Dianna) Stevens of Lynchburg, OH, and Donn (wife, Paula) Stevens of Lewisville; one daughter Connie (husband, David) Porter of Kennard; seven grandchildren and two great-grandchildren; and one sister, Leola Jordan of Knightstown.

An infant son, David Joseph Stevens and one infant brother, Curtis Bowen Stevens, preceded him in death.

Services were held Tuesday, June 26 at 11 a.m. in the Condo & Son Funeral Home with Bill Worrell of the Center Christian Church officiating. Burial was in Center Cemetery near Mays.

Visitation was held Monday, June 25 at the funeral home. Memorial contributions may be made to the Center Christian Church.
