Elnora Jean Whitaker

July 13, 1924 – June 18, 2001

Elnora Jean Whitaker, 76, a former resident of Grant City who had resided in Pendleton for the past several years, died Monday, June 18 at St. Elizabeth Ann Seton Hospital in Carmel. She was born July 13, 1924 in Mt. Comfort, a daughter of the late Chandler and Crystal (Leonard) Heim.

Mrs. Whitaker, a graduate of Knightstown High School, had worked as a teller at the former First National Bank in Knightstown, and a homemaker. She was a member of the Fishersburg Wesleyan Church.

Survivors include her husband Calvin V. Whitaker who she married February 18, 1976; one son, Robert David (wife Pam) Elliott of Summerfield, FL; two daughters, Carol R. Smith of Shirley, and Linda Marie Elliott of Pendleton; seven grandchildren, 10 great-grandchildren; two brothers, Dale (wife Janet) Heim of Knightstown, and Richard (wife Marilyn) Heim of Knightstown; one sister, Ruth (husband Phillip) Kattau of Rockville.

She was preceded in death by her first husband, Robert Vernice Elliott; daughter, Martha Jean Elliott; and sisters, Evelyn Helms and Carol Heim.

Services will be held at 10:30 a.m. Thursday, June 21 at Ronald L. Seals Funeral Home in Fortville with Rev. Raymond Hood and Rev. Donald McDowell officiating. Burial will be in Gravel Lawn Cemetery in Fortville.

Visitation will be from 4-8 p.m. (today) Wednesday, June 20 at the funeral home. Memorial contributions may be made to the American Lung Association.
