Edna Marie Peebles

May 22, 1909 – May 30, 2001

Edna Marie Peebles, 92, died May 30 at Timbercrest Healthcare Center in Manchester.

She was born May 22, 1909 in Knightstown, a daughter of Harvey and Ethel (Collins) Hopkins.

Ms. Peebles was a 1926 graduate of Morristown High School, attended Central Normal College in Danville, Ball State Teachers College, Muncie, and graduated from Goshen College College. She received her masters degree from St. Francis College in Ft. Wayne.

She taught elementary school in Henry County, Wabash City Schools, Somerset and Lafontaine in Wabash  County, and Syracuse and North Webster in Kosciusko County. She was a member of the Friends Church most of her life until moving to North Webster where she joined the North Webster Church of God. She loved music and studied and taught piano for several years, and served as pianist and organist in several churches. She had lived at Timbercrest Retirement Community since 1990.

Survivors include her sister, Naomi (husband Jack) Porter of Wabash, and several nieces and nephews.

Services were held at 10:30 a.m., Friday, June 1 in the Timbercrest Retirement Community Chapel, North Manchester with David Phillips officiating. Graveside services were held at 1:30 p.m. June 1 was in Glen Cove Cemetery, Knightstown. Grandstaff-Hentgen Funeral Service of Wabash was in charge of arrangements.

Memorials may be made to North Webster Church of God or Wabash Friends Church.
