Mary L. “Peggy” Wager

Jan. 30, 1914 – May 6, 2001

Mary L. “Peggy” Wager, 87, died Sunday, May 6 in the Rush Memorial Hospital in Rushville.

Mrs. Wager was born Jan. 30, 1914 in Rush County, the daughter of the late Thomas and Amanda Brown Gross. She married Glenroy Velmore “Jack” Wager on May 28, 1928 and he preceded her in death on March 11, 1965.

She had lived all her life in Rushville and Rush County. Mrs. Wager was a member of the Center Christian Church. She also worked several years as a Home Health Aide and Practical Nurse, drove a school bus for the Rush County School system for 14 years, was a foster grandparent and also worked at ISSCH as a cook and at the Warren and Ramsey Drive-in in Knightstown.

Survivors include two sons, John Wager of Auburn, CA, and Marlin L. Wager of Greensburg; three daughters, Janet (Robert) Jackson of Knightstown, Susie (Donald) Moore of Knightstown, and Diana (Gary) Ross of Falmouth; a sister, Myrtle Bensen, Rushville; 13 grandchildren, three step-grandchildren, several great-grandchildren and great-great-grandchildren.

Services for Mrs. Wager will be at 10 a.m. Thursday, May 10 at Moster & Cox Mortuary in Rushville with Bill Worrell presiding. Burial will be in Center Cemetery. Friends may call from 4-8 p.m. Wednesday (today) at the funeral home.  Memorial contributions may be made to the Center Christian Church or the Center Cemetery Fund.
