Elmer Singleton
Jan. 27, 1914 – Apr. 30, 2001
Elmer Singleton, 87, of Freelandville died April 30 at Good Samaritan Hospital in Vincennes. He was born Jan. 27, 1914 in Cincinnati, a son of the late Adam and Annette Peck.
He had been the owner of Weed Hardware and was a member of Bethel United Church of Christ, VFW and American Legion. He was a sergeant in the 129th Airborne Engineers, serving in WW II in the European Theater.
Survivors include his wife, Roseadella; two daughters, Jean (husband David) Weimer of Knightstown, and Jane Jorgensen of Tucson, AZ; two stepsons, Tom Toth of Maine and Steve Toth of Vincennes; and four grandchildren.
Services were held Friday, May 4 at Bethel United Church of Christ in Freelandville with Dr. Patrick Larracey officiating. Burial followed in Bethel United Church of Christ Cemetery in Freelandville. Visitation was Thursday, May 3 at the Goodwin Family Funeral Home in Vincennes.
