Jeanne Butcher Swinford

Sept. 3, 1908 – Apr. 14, 2001

Jeanne Butcher Swinford, 92, of Okeechobee, Fla. and a former Knightstown resident, died Saturday, April 14 at Extenda Care in Okeechobee.

She was born Sept. 3, 1908 in Chicago, Ill., a daughter of the late Roy and Hilda MacDonald. Prior to moving to Florida, she and her first husband, Paul Butcher, owned the Butcher Funeral Home in Knightstown. He preceded her in death in 1983.

Mrs. Swinford had also been employed at Rody’s Department Store in Knightstown and was a former member of Knightstown Eastern Star.

Survivors include her husband, Vernie Swinford of Okeechobee; a son, Jerry G. (wife, Marilyn) Butcher of Knightstown; a grandson, Tony Butcher of Green Bay, Wisc., a step-granddaughter, six great-grandchildren, and three step-great-grandchildren.

Graveside services will be held Thursday, April 19 at 2 p.m. at Glen Cove Cemetery in Knightstown with Pastor Bill House officiating.

Friends may call at the Todd Funeral Home, Butcher Chapel on Thursday, April 19 from noon until 2 p.m. Memorial s may be made to the American Cancer Society with envelopes available at the funeral home.
