Dardenella C. Sipes

June 16, 1913 – Apr. 14, 2001

Dardenella C. Sipes, 87, of Knightstown died Saturday, April 14, at Brandywine Manor Convalescent Center in Greenfield.

She was born June 26, 1913 in New Orleans, LA, a daughter of the late John & Christina (MCMullen) Durnin.

She was a homemaker and a member of the St. Rose of Lima Catholic Church and St. Rose Society in Knightstown.

Survivors include two daughters, Gail Sipes of Knightstown and Janelle Hendershott of Dunreith; a son, John D. Sipes of Plano, TX; three grandchildren and two great-granddaughters; three sisters, Geraldine Bellande, Mary Boyle and Rita Trentacosta all of Kenner, LA; two brothers, John and Phillip Durnin both of Kenner, LA; and several nieces and nephews.

Preceding her in death were her husband, C. Ray Sipes on March 17, 1986, son Jerry Sipes on November 17, 1999, and a sister, Carmelite Culotta in 1941.

Funeral services were held Wednesday, April 18 at Condo & Son Funeral Home in Wilkinson with Father John Luerman officiating. Burial followed in Glen Cove Cemetery in Knightstown. Visitation was Tuesday, April 17 at the funeral home from 4-8 p.m.
