Dorothy A. Adkins

Sept. 17, 1942 – Mar. 8, 2001

Services for Dorothy E. Adkins were held Thursday, March 8 at Hinsey-Brown Funeral Service in New Castle. Mrs. Adkins, 58, of Shirley died Monday, March 5 at her home following an extended illness.

The 1960 graduate of New Castle High School retired in 1994 after 14 years of service at Hancock Memorial Hospital in Greenfield.

She was formerly employed at Chrysler Corp. in New Castle and was a charter member of the East Robbins Baptist Church. She was born Sept. 17, 1942 in Robbins, Tenn., a daughter of Harold Virgil and Vera Barnett Robbins.

In addition to her mother, she is survived by her husband, Kermit; a son, Paul (wife, Tammy) of Shirley; five sisters, Myrna (husband, Jack) Gibson of Sunbright, Tenn., Marion Wright of Oak Ridge, Tenn., Barbara (husband, Terry) Williams of Elgin, Tenn., Sherry Robbins and Etta Human, both of Robbins, Tenn.; a brother, Gerald (wife, Oma) Robbins of Robbins, Tenn.; and several nieces and nephews.

The rev. Danny Douglas officiating at the service with burial in South Mound Cemetery. Visitation was Wednesday, March 7. Memorial contributions may be made to the American Diabetes Association.
