Linda L. Charles

Linda L. Charles, 54, of Spiceland died Monday, February 12 at IU Medical Center in Indianapolis after a brief illness.
She was born Feb. 21, 1946 in New Castle.
Charles was a 1964 graduate of Spiceland High School. She had been employed with the U.S. Postal Service for 33 years at several post offices in the area. She had also worked at Wilson’s Market in Spiceland for 23 years. She was an active member of the Spiceland United Methodist Church where she was Women’s Society treasurer and a Sunday School teacher for over 30 years. Charles was a member of the Raintree Chapter of the American Business Women’s Association since 1972, the Spiceland Association. She was also an active member of Cerebral Palsy of Henry County. For many years the enjoyed world travel.
Survivors include her mother and step-father, Ruth and Howard Jordan of Spiceland; an aunt, Catherine Williamson of Spiceland; a brother, Bill (wife, Carol) Charles of Spiceland; a sister, Rose (husband, James) Dicken of New Castle; nieces and nephews, Cindy Shultz and Sam Charles, both of Spiceland, Bill (wife, Lori) Dicken and Ruth (husband, Terry) Coffey, both of New Castle, Tery Burden and Tina McCreery both of Chesterfield; great nieces and great nephews, Ashley Shepherd, Ian Charles, Dan, Will and Emily Dicken.
She was preceded in death by her maternal grandparents, Mr. and Mrs. Everett Neel and several aunts and uncles.
Services were Friday, February 16 at Hinsey-Brown Funeral Service with Rev. Jeff Landon officiating. Burial followed in West Lawn Addition of South Mound Cemetery. Visitation was 4-8 p.m. Thursday, February 15 at the funeral home.
Memorial contributions may be made to Cerebral Palsy of Henry County with envelopes available at the funeral home.
