Hollis E. Thompson

Apr. 26, 1931 – Feb. 14, 2001

Hollis E. Thompson, 69, of Knightstown, formerly of Rushville, died Wednesday, February 14 at his home.

He was born April 26, 1931 in Somerset, Ky., a son of the late William Roscoe and Bessie Thompson.

Thompson was a self-employed truck driver for Thompson Trucking for 35 years. He was also an avid Nascar fan who built his own stock cars.

Survivors include his wife of 31 years, Bettie R. Thompson; two daughters, Mrs. Lawrence (June) Cochran of Knightstown, Mrs. Rick (Mae) Shively of Crawfordsville; three sons, Bruce (wife, Jill) of Clermont, FL, Michael of Fortville, John Allen (wife, Patty) of Rome, GA; three step-children, Jennie Troxell of Markleville, Sandy Crail of Pendleton, James Smith of Mesa, AZ; 21 grandchildren; 24 great grandchildren; one brother; and five sisters.

In addition to his parents, he was preceded in death by a sister.

Services were at 10 a.m. Friday, February 16 at Condo & Son Funeral Home in Wilkinson Ray Thompson and Bruce Thompson officiating. Burial followed in Glen Cove Cemetery in Knightstown. Visitation was Thursday, February 15 from 4-8 p.m. at the funeral home.
