Mabel Elizabeth Boese

Mabel Elizabeth “Betty” Boese, 81, of Wilkinson died Monday, February 5 at her home.
She was born May 21, 1919 in Union City, Ohio, the daughter of the late Don O. and Hazel (Gettinger) Smith.
She was a homemaker and worked for Eastern Hancock schools initiating the bookstore when the new school was built. She was active in church and school accumulating a host of friends. She was a lifelong member of the Church of Christ and a member of the Wilkinson Church of Christ for the past 47 years.
Survivors include her husband, James Boese, whom she married on Sept. 17, 1939; one son, Lynn (wife, Cindy) Boese of Indianapolis; one daughter, Susan (husband, Doug) Orahood of Cicero; one grandson, Matthew (wife, Sara) Orahood of Sanford, FL; two granddaughters, Amanda and Megan Orahood of Cicero; one brother, Edward (wife, Maxine) Smith of Union City, Ind.
Services were at 10 a.m. Wednesday, February 7 at Condo & Son Funeral Home in Wilkinson with Joe Reeves officiating. Burial followed in McCray Cemetery in Wilkinson. Visitation was 3-8 p.m. Tuesday, February 6 at the funeral home.
Memorial contributions may be made to the Hancock Memorial Hospital Hospice Fund, 801 N. Main Street, Greenfield, IN 46140.
