Mildred L. Irvin

Feb. 20, 1912 – Jan. 15, 2001

Mildred L. Irvin, 88, of Fort Myers, FL, a former New Castle resident, died Monday, January 15 in Fort Myers.

She was born Feb. 20, 1912 in Rush County, a daughter of the late Claude and Lura Mae Leisure. She was a retired florist and operated many greenhouses. She moved to Florida in 1971.

She was a member of Fort Myers Garden Club, Friends of the Library, High Noon Lion’s Club, Edison-Ford Museum and the Quaker Church. She was a flower judge on the U.S. team which traveled the world judging flower shows. She was an author, writing on history, music and poetry.

Survivors include two sons, Charles (wife, Carolyn) of Augusta, GA, Richard of Sarasota, FL; a brother, Carl W. (wife, Christie) Leisure of Knightstown; a grandson, Carl of Augusta, GA. She was preceded in death by her husband, Carl E. in January, 2000.

Services were 11 a.m. Thursday, January 18 in Fort Myers Memorial Gardens Funeral Home in Florida. Burial followed in Fort Myers Memorial Garden. Visitation was one hour prior to services.
