Martha Fort

Martha Fort, 103, of Knightstown, died Sunday, January 28 at Regency Place Healthcare Center in Greenfield.
She was born Dec. 5, 1897 in Wilkinson, the daughter of the late Joseph W. and Ida B. (Young) McDaniel.
She and her husband, Russell, owned and operated Fort Montgomery Campground in Knightstown. She was a 75+-year member of the Order of the Eastern Star #492 of Shirley and was a member of the Daughters of the American Revolution of Knightstown.
Survivors include a daughter, Louise Watts of Knightstown; a grandson, Wesley (wife, Tammy) Watts of Knightstown; a great granddaughter, Jennifer Watts of Knightstown; three nieces, Sally Friend of Long Beach, CA, Mary Jarrett of Wilkinson, Nancy Reason of Greenfield; several great nieces and great nephews.
Her husband preceded her in death on October 17, 1971. She was also preceded death by four brothers, Lowell, Travis, Charles, Leroy, and three half-brothers, Walter, Warren and Winfield McDaniel.
Services were at 10 a.m. Wednesday, January 31 at Condo & Son Funeral Home in Wilkinson with Pastor Terry Campbell officiating. Burial will follow in Glen Cove Cemetery in Knightstown. Visitation was Tuesday, January 30 from 3-7 p.m. at the funeral home.
Memorial contributions may be made to New Castle Memorial Park.
