Crash Victims En Route to Bridal Shower

February 18, 2009 - A tragic automobile accident on I-70 Sunday took the life of Carthage resident Crysten Butler Williams, 25, and her two-year-old son, Jason Jett Williams. The accident occurred when their car crossed the interstate median and collided with oncoming traffic, striking another automobile and a semi-trailer.

The accident occurred between Knightstown and Greenfield. Family members said Crysten was en route to a bridal shower for her sister in Wilkinson when the accident occurred.

The Butler auto initially crossed the median and struck another car driven by Colorado resident Randy Guthrie, who was flown by Lifeline Helicopter to Methodist Hospital in Indianapolis. After impacting the Guthrie vehicle, Butler’s car then struck the semi driven by Arkansas resident John Nelson, who was treated and released from Hancock Regional Hospital.

Crysten Butler is the daughter and Jason Williams the grandson of Jeff and Cindy Butler of Knightstown, and Jeff and Chris Williams of Knightstown.

Complete obituaries appear on page two of this week’s issue of The Banner (or in the Obituary section of the Banner's website).
