CAB School Board Expected to Approve Drug Testing Policy
December 10, 2009 - The Charles A. Beard School Board is expected to consider final approval of a student drug testing policy when it meets Tuesday for its December monthly meeting.
The seven-member board voted unanimously at its Nov. 18 meeting to approve the policy on first reading. If approved on second reading, the new policy will, beginning next school year, subject students in grades 7-12 who participate in extracurricular activities or drive to school to random urinalysis drug testing.
In other business, the board is also expected to reconsider salary adjustments for Janet White and Mike McKillip, CAB’s directors of transportation and maintenance, respectively, at Tuesday’s meeting. The agenda also identifies “Bus Driver Salary Adjustments” as an item of new business.
Tuesday’s meeting, which is open to the public, will be held at 7 p.m. in the media center at Knightstown High School, 8149 W. U.S. Hwy. 40, Knightstown. The board is scheduled to meet privately in executive session at 6 p.m. to receive information about and interview prospective employees to and to discuss employee job performance evaluations.
