County BZA to Consider Draper Request

July 30, 2008 - The Henry County Board of Zoning Appeals will hold public hearings Tuesday evening with respect to several requests for variances to county zoning regulations.

Spiceland business Draper, Inc., 411 S. Pearl St., is requesting a variance to allow a 15-ft. setback from a local road, instead of the 50 feet normally required. Draper, according to a case summary provided by the BZA, wants to build on to an existing building at that Spiceland Township location, which is zoned for light industry (I-1).

Kevin Lockhart, 453 N. 5th St., Middletown, is seeking a variance to operate a dental office at 468 N. 5th St. This Fall Creek Township property is currently zoned Residential-1.

A hearing may also be held on a variance sought by Rick and Sharon Webb of New Castle. If the Henry County Planning Commission approves the Webbs' request to have 5.87 acres at 3386 E. U.S. Hwy. 36, New Castle, rezoned Rural Residential, they will be seeking a variance allowing only 25 feet of road frontage instead of the required 150 feet.

A hearing will also be held on Barry Sanders' request for an extension on his temporary permit for a trailer at 9687 W. CR 825-N, Middletown.

Tuesday's hearings begin at 7 p.m. and are held in the meeting room at the Henry County Courthouse Annex, 101 S. 12th St., New Castle.
