Boondocks Farms Mustering Civil War Battle Reenactments

May 21, 2008 - Boondocks Farms in Knightstown will host its inaugural Battle of Montgomery Creek, illustrating what life was like when Americans fought Americans, on Saturday and Sunday, Jun 7-8.

Tensions will run high as over 230 Union and Confederate troops meet to re-enact a civil war battle.

Although no battle was fought on the sprawling 160-acre nature preserve, the passionate group of over 390 re-enactors will certainly make it seem like one was, with battles scheduled for 2 p.m. on both Saturday and Sunday.

Between battle reenactments, visitors will be able to participate in a variety of activities such as touring soldiers’ campsites, watching a Civil War period fashion show and viewing various competitions, including ball gown and cavalry competitions. A highlight will be the live fire competition at 3:30 p.m. on Saturday, where re-enactors will be able to test their marksmanship with period weapons.

Additionally, visitors will be able to take pony rides, wagon rides, and participate in family games.

Boondocks Farms was created to provide an opportunity to showcase the agricultural heritage and natural resources of Indiana through educational tours, group outings, and seasonal events. Our 160-acre property, featuring a working farm and a 90 acre classified forest, provides an atmosphere for families and friends to learn about and experience good wholesome country life. We are dedicated to enhancing relationships by offering quality, fun, outdoor, nature and agricultural based activities for all ages. We invite you to take time to enjoy life and join us at Boondocks Farms.
