"Piano Trio No. 45 in Eb Major" by Haydn

(LARGE MPG AUDIO FILE MAY TAKE A FEW MOMENTS TO PLAY)

March 26, 2008 - The Nora Trio, a classical piano trio featuring Knightstown High School graduate Nicholas Shaneyfelt, a senior at the University of Notre Dame, has been selected as a semifinalist ensemble in the Fischoff Competition, a national chamber music competition that takes place annually in South Bend. The trio is comprised of Shaneyfelt on piano, with violinist Audrey Marier of Pendleton, Oregon, and cellist Monica Regnier of Plymouth, Minnesota. The trio will compete, along with eleven other ensembles, May 9th at the DeBartolo Performing Arts center on Notre Dame’s campus before a panel of three judges. Judges will select a twenty minute excerpt from an hour long repertoire the trio has prepared over the past year. The top three ensembles will be heard by a six-member jury at the final audition on May 11th and will compete for cash prizes and a grand prize winner’s tour in Italy. The announcement comes just weeks after the Nora Trio performed its repertoire at the Knightstown Friends Church.
