Shaneyfelt to Perform with Trio Sunday at Local Church

March 5, 2008 - Nicholas Shaneyfelt, a senior at the University of Notre Dame and member of the Nora Trio, a newly formed piano trio with violinist Audrey Marier and cellist Monica Regnier, will bring a recital of classical chamber music to the Knightstown Friends Church on Sunday, March 9, at 2:30 p.m.

The trio’s recital is in preparation for the their audition and participation in the Fischoff Competition, the largest chamber music competition of its kind in the world that comes to South Bend every year. Chamber groups from around the country compete in the Fischoff annually for cash prizes and a grand prize consisting of a winner’s tour at the Emilia Romagna Festival in Italy.

The trio has been preparing their 60-minute repertoire, featuring the works of Joseph Haydn, Bedrich Smetana, and Frank Bridge, since last March. The Fischoff competition takes place May 9–11.

Marier is a senior graphic design and music double major from Pendleton, Oregon. Regnier is a fifth-year architecture and music double major from Plymouth, Minnesota. Shaneyfelt is a computer science and music double major from Knightstown.
