 CAB Recognizes Good Deeds of Public, Students and Staff

February 30, 2008 - The following groups and individuals were recognized for recent good deeds at the Jan. 15 meeting of the Charles A. Beard School Board by the corporation's interim superintendent, Ray Pavy:

Public - CAB's communities for supporting charities that helped area families during the Christmas season.

CAB Students - seventh and eighth grade class officer for their involvement in the in the KIS canned food drive; the cast and crew of "The Christmas Express" for a job well done; and Knightstown Elementary students chosen as "Respectful Students of the Month" for December: Holden Gross; Harley Peavler; Taylor Tompkins; Kasen Kinnaman; Gideon Mitchell; Jordan Criswell; Brodi Bertram; Austin Guffey; Lori Thomas; Elizabeth Loveall; Kori Wright; Gary Roberts; Connor Brookbank; Arynn Darling; Olivia Moss; Kyleigh Mayhew; Jacob Bearhope; Jordan Ventresco; Emma Vise; Lily Vise; Corey Speicher; Jared Wasson; Emma Grubbs; and JT Butler.

CAB Staff - Julie Anderson and Patty Keesling for organizing the KIS canned food drive; faculty and staff for their response to the canned food drive, which helped KIS collect 1,358 items; and Gloria Means and Mindy Conklin for organizing the Knightstown Elementary canned food drive, which collected 1,545 items.

 

Pavy also offered special recognition to members of the community, students and staff for their "out-pouring of love and expressions of sympathy" following the death of Braden Westmoreland, a kindergarten student at Carthage Elementary.

 

Pavy recognized the following groups and individuals at the school board's December meeting:

Public - Kennard Friends Church for purchasing two phonics ear amplification systems for Kennard Elementary at a cost of around $1,300; Chris Millis and Larry Smith for training staff on fire extinguisher safety; Chanda Hastings and Pam McConnel for providing High 5 character banners; Kim Dalton for writing a positive article for the Knightstown Banner; Marla Green for her many volunteer hours in the classroom; and Rodney Schmidt for providing sound engineering assistance during a KIS drama production.

CAB Students - Katherine Tielkin and Jackson Edwards for being the first Super Readers; Alex Millis for being honest and returning money he found; Grace Holder and Lexi Goodpaster for being the first in their class to take an SRC quiz by themselves; Ryan Johnson, Annie Moore, Kyler Schaetzle and Brayden Walters for being the first SRC Reading Rocs trophy winners; Owen Cooper for outstanding citizenship; Alaina Schmidt, Bryce Eoff, Sean Mullany, Erin Bundy, Katie Kinser, Bailey Cook, Jessica Goodman, Austin Downey, Adam Chew, Trent McDonald, Baylie Hochstedler, Andre Loveall and Brittney Horth for their work on "The Christmas Express" production; KIS Spell Bowl members Ray Smith, Leah Heim, Julie Vaughan, Kayla Weddle, Erika Messer, Tiffany Hunsinger, Austin Sawicki, Kayla Pruitt, Spencer Roberts, Addie Couch and Shelby Patton; Jaden Edwards, Parker Ashby, Devin Hamilton, Isaiah Halicki, Perry Milton, Miriah Lewis, Kayla Pruitt, Connor Stolle, Jessica Stoten and Jacquelyn Hastings for showing "great respect" during a Pledge of Allegiance recitation and moment of silence; and Megan Grant for graduating from the Henry County Academy for Community Leadership.

CAB Staff - Jane Rodgers for organizing a fundraiser for elementary PE; Tom Crawford for his work on the KIS drama production; and Don Scheumann, Chris Bundy and David Bundy for their work on "The Christmas Express."
