McGuire Lauds CAB Staff and Students
May 2, 2007 - As he does monthly, Charles A. Beard Memorial School Corp. Superintendent David McGuire singled out several persons - members of the public, students and CAB staff - for special recognition at the school board's April 17 meeting.
Members of the public recognized by McGuire included the following: Susan Bundy, Tina Horth and Logan's Country Carpet for helping with the intermediate school production of "Treasure Island;" and Angela Moore and Casey Kizer Kiel for presentations during the Kennard Elementary "Chocolate Challenge Fun Night."
Students receiving special recognition included Knightstown Intermediate School students who made up the cast of "Treasure Island;" students Cassandra Cox and Libbie Fender for winning the Mental Health America of Henry County essay contest; KHS student Sarah Davis for being named the "Best Teen Chef in Indiana;" the cast and crew of the KHS spring musical; Leah and Derek Heim for serving as volunteer partner readers; student Brayden Walters for winning a state championship on balance beam; and students Jack Holder and Reagan Reese for calling 911 during a fire and preventing major damage.
McGuire gave recognition to the following CAB staff members: Tabatha Brown, Karen Gardner, Nancy Newton, Patricia Keesling and Therese Hamilton for completing the Mentor Certification Program; Jan Crouch, Cynthia Henry, Lisa Haughn and Tom Crawford for their hard work on "Treasure Island;" Jean Ann McAllister for getting a $800 grant for the sixth grade book shop; Susie Leonard for working additional hours on student schedules for the upcoming school year; Jan Crouch for hard work during the spring musical; and Lisa Mercer for her presentation at the Kennard "Chocolate Challenge."
